About the company
Einar Farestveit, together with his family, founded Einar Farestveit & Co. hf. on 1st April 1964.
Early on, the company served a total of some 70 ships by selling and servicing diesel engines, as well as steering engines for larger vessels and trawlers. The company also imported and sold various household appliances, stereo equipment, TV sets and heating appliances, both in its own facility and to retailers. Furthermore, the company exported salted and tanned sheepskin, as well as various industrial supplies.
Today, the company’s operations cover 4 major areas:
- Household appliances:
The company imports and sells household electric goods in its own shop and as distributor for resale in facilities across the whole country.
- Corporate services:
The company sells coffee machines, mixers, toasters, etc., together with coffee beans and refreshments to companies, public institutions, restaurants and cafeterias.
- Security Technology:
The company sells security equipment to various private companies, public institutions and homes.
- Medical Equipment:
The company sells X-ray units , such as CT and ultrasound equipment, and various other equipment, to health institutions and individuals.
The shop for household appliances, the wholesale division and the company’s headquarters are located at Borgartún 28, Reykjavík. Einar Farestveit & Co. hf. runs its own storage facilities at Bakkabraut, Kópavogur.
The staff consists of 12 employees. The company has servicing contracts with workshops that are responsible for all repairs of machines and equipment sold by the company.
Einar Farestveit & Co. hf. owns shares in various other companies.
